Happy New Year!
I don't know about everyone else but I love a new year. It is a time to start anew, a new beginning with so many possibilities.
Here at Sunset Stables we have elected to shift our focus from breeding sport horses, for the time being, and return in a small way to boarding a few horses with dedicated adult owners who are involved in a regular riding program.
Please click Horse boarding to learn more about our boarding packages and our facility
We wish you all the best in 2010!
We are sad to report that our broodmare Pasha Jalal was humanely euthanized this date. She produced two beautiful foals for us and she will live on through them. RIP big girl
I am pleased to Congratulate Janet and Bill on their purchase of "Johnny"! I wish them many wonderful years of riding and companionship.
For those of you who missed out on Johnny I have another wonderful all 'round horse listed on my site. Further information on "Uplands Bonny" may be obtained through the contact person listed for her on the Sales Page.
WOW! I hope everyone survived the heat wave! We are halfway through our summer and today it doesn't even feel like summer but I'm sure there is more summer like weather heading our way
In all honesty I certainly wouldn't mind some rain to freshen everything up...and certainly to help put out all those forest fires throughout our beautiful province!
We have been, and are, busy around the farm as usual. The youngsters are growing like weeds and are a couple of very handsome...and mischievious boys
Also, we have 3 of our own horses for sale and they can be found on our Sales Page. They can also be found advertised in Horse Journals over the next couple of months. You can also find other horses for sale on our website.
If you are interested in any of the other horses for sale on our website please contact the contact person for those horses and tell them that you saw their horse on our site!
Check out our Sales Page! We have a total of 6 horses advertised.
If you are interested in a fantastic prospect then check out Perseus...we have just reduced his price way below value due to the current horse sales market. I must stress that his price is in NO way a reflection of his quality!
We also have a very nice all-round horse for you non-specific discipline types out there
Spring has sprung...and how glad I am to have some nicer weather. I hope everyone is having an uneventful foaling season. No foals for us this year and in fact we have 1 of our broodmares for sale. If you are looking for a Fabulous and Fantastically priced broodmare then check out Pasha Jalal on our Sales Page.
I have added another horse to our Sales Page as well. He is a Great All-Round guy for those of you that aren't discipline specific and looking for a little fun doing a bit of everything. His price is right too
Check him out!
We hope the snow is done for now and that everyone has made it to this point in good condition. We have wintered well but we are definitely looking forward to warmer weather!
2009 will be a reasonably "quiet" year for us with no mares foaling out...me neither
We are still deciding whether to breed Pasha this Spring...if anyone is interested in a "custom breeding" please contact me before we breed her for ourselves!
We do have 1 yearling offered for sale at this time. Please see our Sales Page for our ad on Perseus SS. Also, look for Persy's ad in the March edition of Gaitpost.
As 2008 draws to a close I would like to take this opportunity to Thank everyone that has helped me out in my breeding venture.
The Thank-you's must start with my mother Helen who has helped make my dream a reality - thank you Mom! and I must include my husband who has built some superb fences
, the stallion owners, my fantastic vet Kerstin Schwichtenberg, friends who helped out with the mares and foals when I was foaling out myself, friends who helped out at inspections and all the rest of my friends for understanding that I have little spare time for anything but my horses.
I would also like to Thank the few clients that have purchased horses from me this past year. Thank-you for keeping my mind at ease by providing wonderful homes for my babies!
We here at Sunset Stables would like to wish everyone we know, and those we have not met yet, a Healthy, Happy and Prosperous 2009!
Today we headed to Dreamscape Farm in Fort Langley for the Westfalen Mare and Foal Inspection, and Branding, with Perdita and her 2008 foal Faramir SS.
It was a lovely day and the mares and foals strutted their stuff. We were amongst a group of fantastic quality mares and foals! The Inspector quite liked Faramir and commented on his lovely movement.
A big Thank-you to Dreamscape Farm for hosting the inspection once again - it went smoothly and the Tim Hortons donuts are always appreciated
As well I'd like to say a big "Thank-you!" to Nancy who was my "helping hand(s)" for the day
Please note that there are a couple of price changes in the horses for sale.
Both Perseus and Angels' listing prices have changed.
What a crazy summer!!
Weaning is done and was uneventful - everyone took it in stride...so to speak. The colts are thriving and are a couple of super sweet boys. They truly are a joy to have around - there is nothing quite like watching foals play.
Perdita is back to work and is quite happy in this role as well.
Pasha will be bred next year but we are undecided to whom we will breed her. She has had 2 superior foals out of 2 very different Stallions - anyone want a custom breeding out there??
Last but not least - Johnny is enjoying his change in focus to jumping...and so am I
Today we headed to the Canadian Trakehner Horse Society (CTHS) Inspection at Sunnyside Equestrian Center in Aldergrove, BC.
Our mare Pasha Jalal and her foal Perseus SS by Hadrian were the focus of this inspection. Pasha scored very high with an overall score of 8/10 - the Inspectors raved about her quality and there was even an offer to purchase should I ever consider selling this fine mare!
As well they would like to see Persy stay a stallion prospect! This was fantastic news for our fledgling breeding program here at Sunset Stables - it means we are doing something right! Therefore, he will remain intact until his First Birthday at least. I am hopeful that a reputable, knowledgable breeder will like to purchase this fantastic prospect.
Persy now bares the lovely brand of the CTHS.
This was a very exciting day for us and MUCH Thanks! to Jennie (my helper for the day)
Pictures have now been added for the pony "Angel." Pictures of others to follow.
Also, we are pleased to offer for sale our Hadrian Colt, "Perseus SS" out of our TB mare Pasha Jalal. Please see our Sales Page for details as well as our Photo Albums page for pictures of this lovely young fella.
Check out our Sales Page! There are 2 horses & 2 ponies currently listed. Pictures for sales horses to follow.
Check out our sales page! There is currently a wonderful hunter pony offered and more sale horses coming soon so make sure you check back often
We are tickled pink that I foaled out today...harhar...I broke the Colt run and had a 8lb 5oz Filly - she is absolutely beautiful - we now have the million $ family
("Perseus SS" pictured above at 1 month 1 day old)
Our 2nd, and last, foal has arrived! Pasha had a BIG handsome chestnut colt with a star and stripe, by the Trakehner stallion "Hadrian," in the wee hours today. He is quite the good lookin' fella and I'm not sure if he's for sale yet or not...
I am absolutely thrilled that our mare Perdita had a big beautiful bay colt with a star and a hind sock, by the Westfalen stallion "Freestyle," in the wee hours today. We named him "Faramir SS" (pronounced fair-a-meer). He is everything I hoped for and then some! He is to be my future dressage super star
I am pleased to announce that Chante SS and Freesia SS have both gone to fabulous new homes. Congratulations to their new owners and the best of luck with their "girls" in the show ring!
Happy Spring! I don't know about everyone else but I'm happy that the days are longer, the flowers are blooming and the mares will be foaling out soon...and so will I!
Today is the day that I've warned you all about - our Sales Horses listing prices are increased today. Please see our Sales Page for current pricing
Don't forget that our Sales Horses will have their Listing prices increased next month
Now is the time to get in on a Fabulous Deal for a Superb Prospect!
*All of our Sales horses are in the February edition of the Gaitpost*
Happy New Year to Everyone!
We sincerely hope that you all have a Healthy, Happy and Prosperous 2008!
Check out the January issue of the Gaitpost for "Johnny", "Pasha", "Chante" and "Freesia"
Winter Blow-Out Sale
(Prices in effect until March 20, 2008)
We need to Downsize to make room for the Spring Foals AND Our Newest Human Addition, which is expected at the same time in April '08!
I anticipate having much less time to focus on Breeding, Foals and Barn-work, therefore, most of our herd is for sale so that I can focus on parenting our 2 children and riding...when I have the time
All of our Sales Horses have been REDUCED in price!! Please see our Sales Page for Details
Look for "Pasha" + in utero foal, "Bunny," and "Chante" in the November issue of "The Gaitpost." Plus, don't forget we also have "Johnny" for sale. All of our horses are registered.
Happy Fall!! Wow! What a busy Summer we had...it was great!
You will see our sales total is now 5 (or depending on what way you look at it...4 for sale with one being a 2 for 1 package Or you can simply buy the foal In Utero and we will hold onto the mare until weaning is complete and then sell her "open"). So many options...
We made the trip to Dreamscape Farm, home of the Westfalen Stallion Freestyle, today with Pasha and Bunny (Freesia SS) for the Westfalen mare inspection and Foal branding.
Pasha was Approved for breeding purposes and Bunny was Registered and Branded.
There have been 2 additions to our Sales List (bringing our Sales Total to 4). Please see our Sales Page for these Exciting Additions.
June 23, 2007
Chante attended her first show and she did smashingly well for her first time away from her mom!
She placed 4th in her Yearling Filly's class and 3rd in her Suitable to be a Dressage Horse class.
Needless to say we are Very Proud of Miss Chante!
(See more pics in Chante's Album)
Both of our Broodmares have checked in foal for April 2008 foals - please see our Sales Page for details!
(picture taken at 1 day old)
April 8, 2007
Pasha had a Filly early Easter morning
"Bunny," as we fittingly call her around the barn, is by Freestyle and out of our TB mare Pasha Jalal (Ski Resort X Grandma's Guinness X Marcellini)
This is a super cute, feisty foal with a beautiful dishy face, a nice shoulder and topline, and a big hip and croup
Looks like she will be a black bay like her Dam and the only white on her is a few hairs on her forehead - also like her Dam
If you are looking for a reasonably priced all-around prospect look no further! We are offering Bunny for sale to an approved performance home for $7500 CAD
September 3, 2006
We brought Perdita and Chante SS to the CWB inspection on September 3, 2006.
They loaded picture perfect and traveled all the way from Chilliwack to Richmond like old pro's.
Perdita was approved for breeding purposes and Chante was evaluated and did very well. The judges comments about Chante were: Very buoyant moving foal with good hock and knee action. Very big, nice filly.
Chante SS is now registered Canadian Warmblood.
July 16, 2006
A filly was born to Perdita in the wee hours of the morning. She has a hind left sock and a star, stripe and snip. Looks like she is going to be black! And she has the longest legs you will ever see!
We named her Chante SS
Chante SS is by Chocolat (Capone 1 X Marcellini Mare), out of Perdita (Pacific Sunset X Bold N Bizarre Mare)
So, as you can see by her lines she could very well be a Jumper and with those long legs I don't doubt it!
I think she would make a pretty Dressage mount as well
Best of all...for you serious competitors...Chante SS is for sale to the right show home!
